Dance With Spokane! begins long before the teams step onto the stage.
Seven Spokane-area community leaders have been paired with seven local professional dancers from Alegría Dance & Entertainment. Together, they'll train, create, and compete through a series of three virtual dance challenges—each designed to push them outside their comfort zones and reveal something new about their partnership.
And you get to follow the entire journey.
The virtual competition unfolds on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok, leading up to the Dance With Spokane! Live Finale on November 13.
How It Works
The Road to the Finale
Each partnership will take on three unique dance challenges leading up to the Live Finale.
For every challenge, teams receive a new theme and must work together to interpret it through dance. You'll see the finished performances—but you'll also get a glimpse into the rehearsals, personalities, challenges, and stories behind them.

After three virtual challenges, all seven partnerships come together at Riverside Place for one final performance at the Dance With Spokane! Live Finale on November 13.
The Challenges — Chapter One
Decades
Beginning October 6, 2026
We're starting by turning back the clock.
For their first challenge, each partnership is assigned a decade and tasked with bringing it to life through dance.
From the music and movement to the style and personality of the era, the teams must put their own spin on an iconic moment in time while tackling their very first Dance With Spokane! performance.
Chapter Two
Spokane Staple
Beginning October 18, 2026
For Challenge Two, we're bringing it home.
Each partnership takes inspiration from something uniquely connected to Spokane and the Inland Northwest, transforming a familiar piece of our community into an original dance performance.
It's a celebration of the places, traditions, experiences, and personality that make Spokane feel like home—with a Dance With Spokane! twist.
Chapter Three
Tribute
Beginning October 29, 2026
For their final virtual challenge, the competition gets personal.
Each partnership creates a performance inspired by someone, something, or a story meaningful to them.
The Tribute Challenge gives our community leaders and dancers an opportunity to move beyond simply performing choreography and use dance to tell a story—setting the stage for their final journey to the Live Finale.
Judging
How Are the Teams Judged?
Each performance is evaluated across three categories:
Technique
Execution, musicality, movement quality, and overall technical performance.
Interpretation of the Challenge
How creatively and effectively the partnership brings the challenge theme to life.
Overall Performance
Stage presence, entertainment value, chemistry, storytelling, and the overall impact of the performance.
Each category is scored on a 10-point scale.
Dance With Spokane! isn't only about what our judges think.
The community gets a voice, too.
Throughout the virtual competition, you'll have opportunities to support your favorite teams and performances. Audience voting will contribute to determining the outcome of the competition as the partnerships make their way toward the Live Finale.
